Boomse muziekgroep Rockenbach trekt naar Aruba voor goed doel
Antwerpen, 13 september 2010 – ‘Cas di Glas’, de Arubaanse versie van het ‘Glazen Huis’, krijgt bezoek van Rockenbach. De Boomse band, die klassieke muziek in een rockversie giet, wil met een massale cd-verkoop haar steentje bijdragen in de strijd tegen borstkanker op het Caribische eiland.
Peter Ballière, een Antwerpenaar die sinds 1996 op het zonnige paradijs woont, kwam op het idee om Aruba te laten proeven van de originele benefietactie. Met ‘Cas di Glas’ hoopt hij genoeg geld in het laatje te brengen om Aruba te verrijken met een mobiel screening center voor borstkanker. Tussen 29 september en 4 oktober wordt hoofdstad Oranjestad omgetoverd tot een heuse feestlocatie met het Glazen Huis als middelpunt. Twee bekende radio-dj’s en een televisiepresentatrice uit Aruba, gooien vier dagen lang hun entertainmenttalent in de strijd.
Rockenbach zakt speciaal af naar Aruba om enkele nummers te komen zingen in dit glazen huis. De muziekgroep spant zich regelmatig in voor het goede doel door middel van benefietconcerten. ‘De actie op Aruba deed ons onmiddellijk denken aan ‘Song for Life’, een liedje dat we opdroegen aan een vrouw die vocht tegen kanker’, legt pianist Hugo Ulens uit. ‘Oorspronkelijk was het idee om duizend cd’s met dit nummer te verkopen voor ‘Music for Life’. Door onvoorziene omstandigheden kon dit uiteindelijk niet doorgaan. Het leek het ons dan ook ideaal om het lied te gaan promoten in Aruba en de opbrengst van de cd’s aan Cas di Glas te schenken. Het geeft ons enorm veel voldoening wanneer we met onze muziek mensen kunnen helpen’, aldus Hugo Ulens.
